Steve has been pastor of the Upland Brethren in Christ congregation for more than twenty years. Prior to serving the Upland congregation, he served two congregations in Pennsylvania and has been in full-time pastoral ministry for 24 years.
Before being called into ministry, Steve was in the technology business, first as an electronics technician and later as Vice President of Systems Development and Marketing for a systems integration company. Spending time with his wife, Phyllis, their five daughters, and eleven grandchildren is his priority and delight. He also enjoys working around the house on various projects, as well as an occasional attempt at golf.
Perry began his ministry as a church planter (14 years), and then transitioned to bishop (18 years), and is now excited to serve as teaching pastor at the Upland BIC Church.
Born and raised in Upland, Perry has lived most of his life in Southern California’s Inland Valley. He has been married to Marta for 32 years and has three grown daughters and a really adorable red-headed grandson named Chase.
Perry loves communicating God’s word through speaking and writing. His other interests include gardening, mountain biking, hiking and eating tacos…muchos tacos.
His life verse is Matthew 6:33: “Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don’t worry about missing out. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met” (The Message).
Jason has been serving in pastoral ministry for over ten years on the east coast in NJ, PA and NY for most of his pastoral ministry. But God answered his prayers of wanting to come to Southern California! Jason has now been serving in California for the past two years and is loving it!
Jason was called into pastoral ministry at 7 years old, but ran from it for a few years but God finally got hold of him. During that time he spent some time in corporate offices and small businesses but the conviction became too strong to run from anymore and finally enrolled into Biblical Seminary in PA. However, with the current needs of the Church to plant a multisite he later transferred and graduated from Alliance Theological Seminary.
Jason is married to Angela and they currently have one daughter; Emmanuella. His passions include board games, golf, traveling, trying new foods and spending time with family and friends. His current prayer is to see the Church in America restored and revived to what it first looked like.
Daniel has been serving as Youth Pastor to our Junior High and High School youth for more than two years, along with his wife Esther. Daniel graduated with a Degree in Biblical Studies & Urban Ministries from Moody Bible Institute. Since then he has worked in many roles ministering to young people in Chicago, San Francisco, Texas. Prior to joining UBIC he served as a youth worker in two churches in the United Kingdom where Esther is from.
Esther has a degree in Theology & Counseling from London School of Theology in the United Kingdom. She serves the youth alongside Daniel and is passionate about ministering in the area of marriage and family. In June 2017 Daniel and Esther welcomed their baby boy, Elijah Richard Storm, into the world.
Their heart and vision is to reach those who don’t know Christ, to teach & disciple those who do & build a welcoming, loving and secure environment where youth can grow in their faith & be supported as they wrestle with doubts and questions in their journey.

Jimmy is an accomplished pianist, accompanist, composer and arranger, with an eclectic expertise in classical, gospel and contemporary music. Jimmy’s motto is, “play it from the part of you that sings! Always give it 110% because God deserves our very best.”
Jimmy’s interests (outside of his full-time passion for music) include golf, golf, and golf. Oh! And also biking, hiking, and playing sports. Jimmy’s greatest passion is spending time with his wife, Robin, and his two daughters and four grandchildren. (He may not look old enough, but he does have 4 grandchildren!)

Laura Duncan has attended Upland Brethren In Christ since she was 4 years old. Laura is married to a wonderful man named Morris, and they have two children, Brad and Bethany. The Duncans are avid Disneyland fans, which keeps them all kids at heart. Even more than Disneyland, though, Laura loves to teach children about the love of God through Bible stories, games, crafts, especially helping children build a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Ann-Margret has been serving in children’s ministry since she was 17 years old. Watching children choose to follow the Lord grew her ministry heart and 18 years later she is still serving. Annie has co-led the youth department with her husband for 5 years. She has also served in Pennsylvania for several summers reaching urban youth for Christ.
Annie loves mission opportunities and hopes to one day be a missionary with her family. You can find Annie on her days off outdoors and traveling with her two beautiful babies and her amazing husband Ricky.
Sharon began attending Upland BIC when she was 12 years old. A family friend brought her and her siblings to Vacation Bible School one summer and she never left. Since then, she has served UBIC in a variety of roles, including Sunday school teacher, summer day camp staff, preschool aid and accounts payable clerk.
Sharon has degrees in Language Arts & Communications and Sociology & Social Work. One day she hopes to complete her Master’s in Education coursework. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her dogs, family and friends, hiking to waterfalls, volunteering and service projects, traveling to new places and relaxing on white sand beaches. Next on her bucket list is El Salvador, where her parents and her favorite food (pupusas) are from.
Every day, Sharon strives to be a Proverbs 31 woman, a woman who honors and puts her faith in God, is hard working, capable, wise and loves helping and serving others.
Kera is the director of Brethren In Christ Community Preschool. She has worked at the preschool since 2009 and served as the Assistant Director for seven years. She has my associate degree in Early Childhood Education, and a Bachelor’s Degree from Cal State San Bernardino. She is married and has two beautiful children, Ethan and Kaylei. Most weekends you will find her on a ball field rooting them on! She chose to work in Early Childhood Education because she felt a calling to guide, mentor and educate the future youth. She loves to teach young children about God’s love and faithfulness. She often prays the “Heart of a Servant” quote: “Give me the heart of a servant, tender and faithful and true. Fill me with love, then use me, O’ Lord, so that the world can see you”.
